Thammasat University Asset Management Office
Thammasat University manages both hotels and dormitories with a combined total of over 10,000 rooms. Therefore, a system is needed to assist in various aspects such as room booking, maintenance, procurement, and accounts receivable management. Moreover, the system must support various booking types, including daily, monthly, and semester-based bookings (for students). The large number of rooms results in high operational costs, as a large workforce is required for management. Room booking errors are common, revenue collection is incomplete, and the administrative workload is excessive with unnecessary paperwork. High personnel costs, numerous errors, and inefficient systems lead to elevated operational costs.
Mr. Phattechin, an executive at the Thammasat University Asset Management Office, stated that SORASO has made resource management for room reservations more efficient. It allows for better allocation of personnel such as housekeepers, F&B staff, and maintenance teams according to bookings displayed on the system, reducing the need for excessive staffing during peak times and saving up to 50% in costs.
Revenue collection beyond room fees, such as from mini-bars, restaurants, or other services, has become easier. There are no overlooked charges, and bills can be issued retroactively using the accounts receivable system, allowing the hotel to fully collect revenue and increase it by up to 20%.
Problems with room management, such as delays in cleaning, resulting in insufficient available rooms for guests, have been resolved. SORASO enables the hotel to see bookings in advance, giving them time to prepare rooms more quickly and use resources more efficiently. Centralized booking management eliminates booking errors.
Using SORASO has reduced our costs by allowing us to use resources more effectively. We no longer need to hire housekeepers on a monthly basis; we can hire them daily instead, with only a supervisor overseeing the work. We don't need to have technicians on staff all the time; they only come in when needed, thanks to better booking management. After using SORASO, I was able to eliminate our losses within two years.
SORASO has reduced our administrative workload. We no longer need admins to assign tasks manually, as our staff now knows which rooms need to be cleaned or maintained based on clear advance bookings. It also helps in meal preparation by predicting quantities accurately. The system has largely replaced unnecessary paperwork with online processes, except for order lists for food. This has allowed us to reduce core costs and manage operations smartly without having to be on-site every day, enabling remote management.
For monthly stays, the hotels and dormitories at Thammasat University can issue a single bill for all residents. Guests can pay their monthly fees directly via the web or app, supporting various payment methods such as QR Code, credit/debit cards, or cash. Guests can also set up automatic payments via credit card, view receipts, and review past expenses, making it convenient for both guests and management. This enhances billing efficiency and reduces accounts receivable management costs.
Thammasat University is a large public university with its own asset management office, which oversees the Asian Games dormitories, student dormitories, and staff dormitories. Additionally, there are two hotels: Dluxx Hotel (Thammasat Rangsit) and Eco Hotel (Thammasat Pattaya), with a total of over 10,000 rooms.
